Noted actors Virginia Madsen (Candyman) and Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld) have joined the ensemble cast of Chris Peckover’s thriller Safe Neighborhood, according to THR. They will star as the parents of a twelve-year-old boy who, while being babysat, is subjected to a strange home invasion. The film is being described as Home Alone meets Scream.
The horror film, also starring Olivia DeJonge (M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit), Levi Miller (Pan), Ed Oxenbould (The Visit), Aleks Mikic (Secret City) and Dacre Montgomery of the upcoming Power Rangers film, is shooting in Australia, and is due for an Australian release in December this year.
The Safe Neighborhood script was penned by Chris Peckover (Undocumented) and Zack Kahn (Mad) and directed by Peckover. A US release date has not been set.
