Late horror legend Wes Craven’s final film in which he executive produced, The Girl in the Photographs, looks like it has the makings of a fond farewell to his iconic film history.
After getting on board with director Nick Simon’s film in 2014, Craven remarked that “Sometimes you read a script and you just know. From first draft to final cut, Nick has told a unique story that will leave you wondering: is it always good to be noticed? It has been a pleasure to work with Nick from his days in my WGA mentor group to picture lock. You’ll be hearing from him again.”
The Girl in the Photographs, which made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, revolves around a young woman who starts receiving photographs of other young women who have been brutally murdered. In between, the photographer whose work the photos are based on gets pretty creepy himself. Are the photos of the victims real or staged?
The horror crime thriller stars Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps), Kal Penn (Battle Creek), Christy Carlson Romano (Deadly Daycare), and Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files).
Here’s to hoping Craven’s final film, premiering April 1, reflects just how important an icon he was to the entire horror industry. Watch the official The Girl in the Photographs trailer now.
